Sustainable Environment Initiative
On the NBS campus, we power classrooms with solar energy, grow organic crops, and harvest rainwater—teaching sustainability and cutting environmental impact.
All activities under our Sustainable Environment Initiative take place within the Nehru Bal Samiti campus. A 25 kW solar photovoltaic array now supplies clean electricity to classrooms and administrative blocks, with surplus fed back into the grid to lower operating costs. For over a decade, our on site organic farm has yielded pesticide free vegetables, offering students hands on lessons in eco friendly agriculture and healthy eating. Meanwhile, rooftop rainwater harvesting systems collect monsoon runoff, storing it in underground tanks for landscape irrigation and toilet flushing easing pressure on municipal supplies. By involving students directly in these green projects, NBS nurtures environmental stewardship and showcases replicable models for urban sustainability.
